Save Money Even if You're Broke... Yes It's Possible!

How do you save money when you're already broke?

As people always say, it's the small things that matter. That applies here, cutting back a dollar or two when possible is a BIG step in the right direction. If you're like me and turn to Google for everything, I'm sure we stumbled across the same articles and links. Making me feel overwhelmed and helpless, thinking "How do I put fifty in an account, when I don't have fifty to spare after bills?"

How to START saving money with these three easy steps:

1. Do I really need this?

Ask yourself before you make a purchase, is this something I need? As Americans we feel we need more than the necessities... When in reality we don't. You don't need another pair of jeans, simply because you already have several pair. When grocery shopping make a list and stick to it, so unnecessary items don't jump in the cart.

2. Put $1.00 away!

Why not? It's only helping you save, it doesn't seem like much, but every time you have ones in your wallet place them in a jar. They will add up faster than you think! I have started by putting away one dollar three days a week, it is about to become two dollars three days a week. Only because I have improved on my spending habits, and can now find the extra dollars to stash away.

3. Dedicate the money

All that saved money will be tempting, maybe not as tempting as a gourmet cupcake, but don't touch it. Decide what you're saving for and how much you need. Then don't touch the money until you have reached the goal.

Although, you won't have ten grand saved up by next year, this is a great step in the right direction. I have felt so overwhelmed with trying to save, many sites giving you percentages or dollar amounts to strive for. This won't break you or make you fall behind on bills. Just a few simple tips to start healthy spending!

Got some tips of your own? I would love to hear them!
